This production follows two characters that attempt to climb Mount Kailash, a holy mountain that has been banned from summiting. With the idea that they can be cleansed and reborn in the land of Tibet, they chase enlightenment and unintentionally neglect the occupied land and local beliefs. Upon their ascent, they are confronted by a mountain deity who is upset with the humans and the choices they’ve made to govern society. The deity expresses that individual and societal healing is interdependent with the healing of the Earth.

Merging film, theater, and dance, The Roof is Leaking aims to reveal the ecological and spiritual sacredness of the Tibetan plateau.
