not outside, is a piece I created in response to the raging west coast forest fires in the summer of 2020. I was in school studying remotely and was assigned a project to create an outdoor film in which the dancer explores the environment. Due to the extreme toxic air quality, Seattle was under lockdown and stuck inside for 16 days in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this short film, I chose to express the physical limits, fear, and frustration that arose. “not outside” reflects on the apocalyptic conditions and what the future holds.
